Ranching expert Teichert joins regenerative agriculture consulting firm, Understanding Ag, LLC
FT. PAYNE, Ala. (Oct. 8, 2020) – Burke Teichert has developed an international reputation for organizing ranches to be extremely cost-effective and profitable with very efficient, small crews that utilize planned, time-controlled grazing for improved soil health and ranch productivity.
Today, the regenerative agriculture consulting firm, Understanding Ag, LLC, announced that Teichert has joined their expanding cadre of farmer/rancher-consultants to help meet the growing need for on-farm/on-ranch regenerative agriculture technical assistance.
“Burke’s decades of experience in soil health-focused regenerative ranching in a wide range of environments will provide even more depth to the UA consulting cadre and provide additional value to our clients,” UA partner Shane New said. “He’s simply one of the best in the business.”
In addition to his ranch management experience, Teichert spent several years in the artificial insemination industry, working with some of the best animal scientists in America.
“My work with these professionals, some of whom became my mentors, added significant value to my formal agricultural economics education and continues to serve me well today,” he said.
Teichert, who was raised on a family ranch in Western Wyoming, attended Brigham Young University where he studied agricultural economics with an emphasis in ag business. After serving a two-and-a-half-year year mission for his church in Brazil, he graduated from BYU, then attended the University of Wyoming where he earned a Master of Science degree in agricultural economics with emphasis in farm and ranch management.
“Throughout my career, I’ve had the great fortune to manage ranches in a number of climatic environments and locations,” Teichert said. “What I’ve learned is that even while adhering to the same regenerative principles, no two ranches can be managed the same—thus the need for adaptive grazing and adaptive management to fit practices to the individual ranch while applying those principles.”
