Bluebird Sky Farmstead in Longmont, CO is looking for someone to live on the farm and work part time for the 2024 season. Interns will arrive on the farm in early April and work through October. We are a regenerative livestock farm raising pigs, chickens, ducks, and turkeys, as well as maintaining a half-acre garden. Our intern will help with all aspects of running the farm, including animal care, gardening, infrastructure projects, feed runs, making value added goods, and more. We are looking for someone who is able to work hard for 20 hours a week and who is passionate about regenerative farming practices. They will be working alongside co-owners Annaliese and Danny on many projects, but will also need to complete some projects and problem solve on their own. Hours are flexible, but once established, we hope for them to be consistent across the season. The 20 hours a week pays for the rent and utilities on the camper at $15/hr. There will occasionally be opportunities to work more than 20 hours for cash throughout the season. This will leave you with plenty of time to get another part time job and adventure around Colorado.
Applicants who will thrive here will:
Be over 18 years old.
Be able to live on the farm and work the whole season from April through October.
Be ready to commit to learning about regenerative agriculture.
Be a self-starter and problem solver.
Be self-motivated.
Be physically fit and able to lift 50 lbs repeatedly (feed bags).
Have a strong work ethic.
Have enough self awareness to take care of personal hydration, be ready for work, and communicate about any concerns on farm
Job requirements:
Can work in any weather.
Have at least one season of agricultural-related work history.
Be comfortable around high energy dogs.
Be able to work on Saturday or Sunday.
Have a driver’s license and vehicle.
Be timely – when we say we wake up at dawn to feed animals, we’re not kidding!
Make the commitment to work from April – October 2024.
