About the Role
Under the leadership of Mike Billings, our Chief Procurement Officer, the Director of Procurement will oversee all things related to procurement for our Poultry, Pork & Seafood programs. They will be responsible for vendor relationships, both in continuing to support and develop existing relationships as well as actively seeking new partnerships to strengthen and build out our supply chain. Our procurement program is built on whole carcass utilization and is an important element in our philosophy of how we think about our protein purchasing.

The perfect candidate is someone who has a deep knowledge of the meat industry and is passionate about animal welfare, sustainable/regenerative farming practices, traceability and transparency, and the opportunity that we have to continue to shape the meat industry in a way that is better for farmers, workers, animals, consumers and the environment.

Responsibilities
•Develop a comprehensive category strategy that addresses vendor capacity, special claims requirements, quality, pricing, and demand plan requirements
•Identify and implement strategies for commodity cost management, including monitoring commodity and financial markets to anticipate market changes
•Work cross-functionally with departments such as Operations, Logistics, Food Safety and others to drive company initiatives and OKRs
•Communicate weekly, monthly and quarterly market conditions and financial forecast guidance for Executive level review
•Build strong working relationship with current vendor partners and develop new vendor relationships
•Provide weekly, quarterly, and annual production forecasts to raw material suppliers, further processors, and distributors. Tracking, troubleshooting and problem-solving inventory levels including inbound and outbound transportation movement.
•Develop strategic initiatives to secure chicken, pork and seafood raw material and further processing capacity for raw material to scale for future growth.
•Site visits of harvest facilities and processing plants to determine physical capabilities, constraints, and future opportunities
•Working with suppliers, product development, commercialization, and quality assurance teams to improve to increase carcass balance and support new product development work
•Participate in sustainability improvement initiatives

Requirements 
•8+ years experience leading multi species protein programs
•Passion for high welfare and sustainably raised & sourced protein
•Experience working in close partnership with other departments including Operations, Quality, Accounting, and Sales, with the ability to manage end to end procurement processes
•Experience with long term forecasting supply chain health and budgeting
•Demonstrable knowledge related to industry trends, constraints, seasonality and procurement options for meat and seafood
•Experience with ERP systems
