Herdsperson & Grazing Manager

Job Summary:
Kinloch Farm is hiring an experienced Herdsperson to oversee the management of our adaptive grazing
program as well as the corresponding health of our cattle and pasture ecosystems. The Herdsperson will
work closely with the Farm Manager on the design and execution of the grazing plan, veterinary
requirements, breeding and calving logistics, and infrastructure needs. The herdsperson will work
closely with the whole team for cohesive management strategies that align with our mission, vision, and
goals. The ideal candidate works well in collaboration with others and can shift seamlessly between
team-oriented activities as well as independent work.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Collaborate on design and implementation of adaptive grazing plan and subsequent pasture
management needs
• Assist the team with routine veterinary care schedules and prompt treatment of sick and injured
animals
• Collaborate with Farm Manager for breeding, calving, and veterinary schedules, ensuring the
animals are where they need to be for those events
• Ability to monitor animal health and communicate concerns
• Oversee record keeping associated to the enterprise
• Assist with care and upkeep of buildings, grounds, fencing, and machinery
• On call for cattle, facility, and/or weather-related emergencies
• Collaborate with Conservation Manager for grazing patterns in NWSG, meadows, and savannas
• Maintain a calm and cool presence, while efficiently getting the work done
• Ability to effectively communicate to all members of the farm team
Qualifications:
• Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a pre-employment background screening
• 3 years in a cattle program, specifically utilizing adaptive grazing principles
• Experience in a team setting
• Experience operating heavy machinery, UTV’s, and a truck and trailer
• Experience using portable electric fence
• Experience with fence installation and repair
• Strong work ethic with initiative to always see the next task
• Compassion for livestock well being

• Excellent problem-solving skills
• Comprehension of and/or a track record of managing using regenerative philosophies
• Willingness to always being open to continuing your education and adapting
• Completion of Understanding Ag RegenAg 101 webinar within 6 months of hiring
Compensation:
• $55,000-$60,000 depending upon experience

Availability:
